He began his career in Optimist, later competing in Sunfish and ILCA, where he earned the title of Sunfish Youth World Champion. Representing Colombia in multiple international events—including the Pan American Games and Bolivarian Games—he achieved notable success, such as a third-place finish at the Lightning South American Championship.
